A Thirty-Something Skin Routine
I'm going to let you in on a little secret. I don't wash my face....
...In the traditional sense. Now before you freak out and start thinking I'm a dirty person, hear me out. I do a quasi "cave man" method of skincare. I wash my face with a wash cloth and warm water every morning and night. But, I only use a face cleanser one-day a week. And my face wash is nothing special. Seriously, I just use the drugstore Clean & Clear Morning Burst.
There's a reason I moved to washing my face with a cleanser only once a week. I traditionally have very oily skin. After doing some research I found the caveman method of skincare. I couldn't bring myself to never washing my face, so I started using just water and a cloth. Within three weeks I noticed so much improvement in my previously oily skin. No more breakout. Just healthy, glowing skin. And I've never gone back...I've been using this method sense my early twenties.
But I'm also a huge advocate of keeping my face hydrated. I typically stay organic, as you will notice below (minus a couple give or take). As someone who has eczema, moisturizer in my skin routine is key.
With all that being said, I've put together a compilation of my favorite, must-have skincare items. I hope you enjoy...
Daily Skin Creams:
This is my go-to daily face cream. I may alternate from time to time, but Avalon Organics is what I predominately use. And I will let you in on a little secret...It's a fraction of the cost usually on Amazon (then what I see it at the store). I've been using it for years and I don't have one bad thing to say about it.
My husband actually bought me this Beekman 1802 day cream. And when they say "light as air" they are speaking the truth. Something about the goats milk in this.
I notice a visible difference in my skin after using this Aveda overnight mask, as well as the corresponding eye mask. I will typically use this mask a couple times a week.
This is hands down my favorite mask. Not only do I notice my face visibly perks up the next morning, it also smells divine!
This mask is my go-to when I've been outside all-day in the hot sun. Not only does it feel amazing on my skin, it hydrates on point. Extra credit, put it in the fridge for a really nice treat after a long day outside.
Oils & Mists:
This technically is not a skin cream, but I will rotate this Aveda composition oil into my skincare routine about once a week. I love the way it smells and feels on my skin. You would think it would be "oily" in every sense of the word...but it's light and just soaks into my skin. I will also use a few drops of this in my water during bath time.
Another Beekman 1802 favorite that my husband bought me (and I now can't live without). I'll use this as a setting spray, on hot days, on days sitting around the house in my pajamas. All...the...time. And you'll often find me throwing it in my purse during the summer months as a refresher.
Oddly enough, I bought this overnight lip cream for my sever-year old son who constantly fights chapped lips. Now I can't go to bed without it.
