Christmas decor goes quick and now is the time I start buying and setting aside until that magical decorating day comes. Next focus area for me, this years Christmas front porch decor. Sometimes, however, we need a little inspiration to get the design mind moving.
I’m going, to be honest here. Being in the blog business around the holidays can be hard. Here it is, ten days before Halloween and I am sitting down to write a Christmas blog. It can sometimes be hard to get into the Christmas spirit when you are churning out seasonal content two months in advance. Truth be told though, this is when I start to do my own online Christmas decor shopping.
My husband now works from home three to four days a week and there is currently only one desk in the house. He spends most of his time at the desk, which leaves me at the dining table. My back has been killing me from the metal chairs. We really need a functional dual office space that works for multiple aspects of our family life.
Some design aspects are not new (you can’t even call them trends because they are solid). Others are as classic and timeless as the iconic little black dress. Okay, maybe this particular one is not that iconic but you get the point I am trying to make. This is not a new design trend.
I think of leather as a neutral in home decor/interior design and a wonderful stepping stone from which to build your decor goals. Don’t believe me? Well, these caramel-colored leather headboards seem to be giving me all the good vibes.
Teal is such a rich and versatile color. So it really isn’t surprising why you see the color popping up in more and more interior design and home decor trends. Among one of those new trends…the kitchen.

But with that same determination came a toddler whose favorite past time was spilling formula (and then moved onto milk) all over my couch. Long story short, I quickly got over fabric couches and longed for the return of leather…
If there is one thing we can all agree on in this war for which essential oil is better, which brand of essential oils is better, if candles are better than essentials oils…There really is nothing better than an amazing smelling home.
What has happened to color in home design? And no, I'm not saying you have to run out and make your home look like a circus tent. But a little pop of color here and there can go so far in home decor/design. Everything has its place…
I used to dry out and place all the flower petals I've received over the years into a jar. But then I wondered if there was another way to use them. Which is when I stumbled upon todays little gem. Pressing and framing your fresh flowers and leaves...
I feel it's incredibly important for my kids to feel included in my design vision of our home. But at the same time, I think it's more important for my husband and I not to feel our home is a shrine to the kids. We also deserve a warm and inviting space to decompress in.
What child hasn't run to their parents exited of what they've created....wanting to immediately display it somewhere proudly? But realistically I know I can't display every single piece of art kids. That doesn't mean I don't want to display them...
The outside oasis should be a must for all moms...it's like an extension of the date night, when you can't find a babysitter to watch the kids. Just imagine it, you put the kids to bed and walk out your backdoor and there is this wonder place to curl up and relax.
